Fun is where you find it!

I love the unexpected things that tickle my funny bone.  Here are a couple I wanted to share with you today:

I’m Finally working out at the gym.  It’s overdue – even though I haven’t been eating terrifically badly, “no exercise at all” caused, well, you know what happens!  So there I am in exercise class.  It’s a combination of yoga and other things – I call it “high powered yoga”.  We’re in a pose where we are braced on one leg, the other is extended out, we’re leaning back, arms overhead.  I’m So proud I was able to do it. Okay, almost do it.  But then the instructor says, “Lift your hips to the ceiling.”, and I realize I’m out of shape enough that if I “lift my hips to the ceiling”, my next move will be the one known as “Butt on the Floor”!  So of course I start chuckling about this, while trying to stifle myself as we next go into positions on the floor.  Have you ever noticed that when something strikes you as funny, trying Not to laugh about it makes you laugh harder?

Here’s another:  Once, when my beloved granddaughter was five, Natie was “spending the night with grandma”.  She and I had watched a delightful movie together – full of songs we had loved.  Bedtime came and we were snuggled together, talking quietly as we got drowsy.  Then it became silent.  Because Natie had loved one song so much, I couldn’t resist – I sang a few bars.  And from this drowsy child, in her most adult voice, came the response: “Seriously? You have to sing that now while we’re trying to go to sleep?” It was so delightful and unexpected that I couldn’t help but laugh!

And that’s it for today.  Enjoy yourself looking for the fun in your life!

I have moments like that, where I think something is funny and I try not to laugh but then I just bust up laughing out loud I cannot keep it held in. Well, I love to laugh and make others laugh as well. I know laughing is good for the soul.

You make such a great point, Melissa! Laughter is good for the soul. And I’m glad I’m not the only one who had that experience of try not to laugh which makes you laugh harder . 🙂
